What is Timestamp Converter?#
Timestamp Converter translates between Unix timestamps and readable dates. Enter a timestamp to see the date in UTC and your local time, or enter a date to see its seconds and milliseconds. The current Unix time stays visible while you work.
How to Use#
- Enter a Unix timestamp or a date and time in either field.
- Copy any value you need from the results.
Switch the unit when the digit count alone does not decide seconds or milliseconds, and pick a time zone for dates that have no offset.
Supported Formats#
Input#
- Timestamps: whole numbers only. Ten or fewer digits read as seconds, eleven to thirteen as milliseconds. Set the unit by hand when the length alone is unclear.
- Dates:
2026-09-30 15:30:00,2026-09-30T09:30, or a date alone such as2026-09-30. Slashes work too. Seconds are optional, and fractions go up to three digits. - Offsets: append
Zor+09:00to pin the date to that zone. Without one, the date reads in the selected time zone.
Output#
- From a timestamp: local time and UTC for the same moment, both in
YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss, plus a relative time such as 3 minutes ago. - From a date and time: the same moment in seconds and milliseconds.
- ISO 8601: shown in both directions, as the UTC form with milliseconds, such as
2026-09-30T15:30:00.000Z.
Use Cases#
- Reading the time hidden in a log line or database row.
- Checking when an API timestamp expires.
- Turning a millisecond value from JavaScript into seconds for a tool that takes Unix timestamps.
Notes#
Values before 1970 and after the end of 2100 fall outside the supported range and show an error. Longer numbers, such as microseconds or nanoseconds, are rejected for the same reason.
FAQ#
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so the value stays on your device.
Leave the unit on Auto and the length decides: up to ten digits count as seconds, eleven to thirteen as milliseconds. A short millisecond value falls in the first group and would read as seconds, so set the unit by hand to read it as milliseconds.
No. A date with Z or an offset such as +09:00 keeps that zone, and the setting applies only to dates without one.
